Mom Jeans?

I realized yesterday that it was possible that I was wearing "mom jeans."

I asked Jim, and he, of course, refused to make any negative comment on my appearance.

I am quite frustrated with my appearance these days: my hair, untanned body, jelly belly, and wider-than-usual hips.

My clothes don't fit right, my shirts are too tight, I still wear maternity panties, and I find myself in workout clothes and sporting a ponytail just about every day!

I decided to go ahead and buy a few clothes a size bigger while I'm "attempting" to lose the final baby weight. So, back to the mom jeans reference. I actually picked out these pair of jean capris because they were advertised to have a "comfort waistband" and when I tried them on sure enough I could squeeze all that loose jelly into the waistband without sporting a fat roll. (While I'm on the jelly belly topic, the c-section really kills the idea of ever having a flat tummy again.) As I wore these jeans last night, I really just felt like a "mom" in them with the comfort waistband holding me in tight.

So, this week in an effort to get out of my mom jeans quickly, I am heading back to the gym on Wednesday to work out with my trainer. I also hope to work out atleast one more time if Jim can get home in time to watch Grant. My gym does provide childcare starting at 6 weeks, but I'm a bit leary of exposing him to all the germs. I could certainly work out more if I took him with me.

Hopefully by the end of the summer, I'll be able to wear all my cute pre-baby clothes and can pitch my "mom jeans".

The "muffin top" is a dreaded thing! I am having a harder time losing it this time, but it is happening! I am sure you look beautiful. And there is nothing wrong with workout clothes...is there?

I absolutely love this post. It makes me feel... oh I don't know... normal?!

You are one of the most beautiful women that I know, Sara Elizabeth. Inside and out, you are beautiful. No matter what size those jeans say on the tag!

Honey, I feel your pain here! Brylee will be 3 months tomorrow, so it's off to the gym for me. I am looking forward to it. Elastic waistbands and pull strings are my best friends right now :)

Hang in there girl...it will come off. For me, it doesn't until I stop nursing but it's worth it right? Use the DAY CARE! I only say that so I will feel better about using it so much myself. The girls do actually seem to like their time at Kids Express at the local Y...or so I'll tell myself while I hoof it out on the treadmill.

I feel your pain! I only have about 7 lbs left to go but I'm nowhere near fitting in my pre-pregnancy clothes yet. So frustrating, isn't it?!

That picture is hysterical! Mom jeans are awful, arent they? But as all these other comments say, we all feel your pain. After 2 kids our bodies will never be the same!

OK I thought you looked GREAT when you guys were here! I was impressed with Grant only being a month old and your tummy looked flat to me!

I am sure this reality will hit me soon enough. I am between regular clothing and needing to start wearing maturnity. (tents - that is what I call all the shirts.)uhhhh I know these stretch marks and pudgy in the middle is worth it in the end but it is frustrating! So I do feel your pain but listen to those around you! - YOU LOOK GREAT!

I think we should all campaign for mom jeans being cool...come on everyone! Why should we have to suck it in and work out all the livelong day so our jeans look good. Why can't we just tuck it all in and forget about it? Seriously...wouldn't all our lives be easier...and possibly more enjoyable? Are you with me???

I agree with Andrea. This post makes me feel, normal. I can never understand why I cannot be back to a size 2 after I had a child like the movie stars. Oh okay, so I was never a size 2. But I do not have a trainer and a cook, so these last 10 lbs are just going to have to take a little while longer. Hang in there. It will happen, I have seen that will power first hand.

This post made me crack up! We have all been there! If I did not have to work I would be in sweats or workout clothes every single day! Your pictures look beautiful, but I know how you feel. We are always harder on ourselves. You look great, girl!
