The bathroom off our master bedroom stinks like sewage.It's smelled like this for about a week. And it's getting worse.
We've asked several "handy" people about it, and they have suggested thoroughly cleaning the pipes connecting to the tub and sink with Liquid Plumber, looking for clogs in the exhaust pipe that airs out through the roof, and checking for cracks in the wax seal beneath the toilet.
Jim and I attempted the first two suggestions, but the stench remains. So, I called a plumber. He was scheduled to be at our house today at 2:30. Well, it kept getting later and later and finally at 6 p.m. he calls to say that one of their trucks broke down, yada yada yada.
So, we have to wait a few more hours. Thankfully, they are coming in the morning.
We have to do something about that smell...

Alright, Sara, your comments just provided me with much needed laughter! While I am truly sorry about "the stank," I sure appreciated the laugh! Hope your plumbing receives that much needed repair--soon!
I am sure Brad could come up with some good "potty humor" off this blog...

Well, the problem is hopefully fixed. After paying a plumber $100 to tell us that a dead rodent had died in our vent and it wasn't a plumbing issue, Jim got to work looking for that pesky pet.
We (yes, I helped) tore out some insulation and found the wee mouse. I still can't believe it could cause that much stank.
Hopefully we are done!

Eewww! I was hoping it wasn't a rat. Having lived through it a couple of times i have to say it is one of the worst smells ever! Few tips I've learned:
-don't use candles, it only mixes with the odor. And who wants to smell vanilla flavored dead rat.
-try to get as much fresh air circulation as possible. i know its cold but opening the windows and doors was the best solution.
