A Question

We are all home today getting snow/sleet/ice. How many more days till Spring??? I'm thankful that January is almost over and we are headed hopefully to warmer and sunnier days!
I've been thinking about how much television our children should watch each day. I've been questioning if we watch too much. So..for all my 4 readers, share with me your guidelines for watching tv at our house.

Summer T.V.

I've admitted it before, but I'm a nighttime T.V. addict. Once Laura is in bed, I like to veg in front of the tube watching a mindless show. Now that it is summer, all my shows are over and I find myself watching "Plastic Surgery: Before & After" on a regular basis. And Jim always is searching for any baseball game to watch.

Usually in the summer, Jim and I watch a series on DVD. We watched all of the "Lost" series last year and it was awesome! We just haven't really gotten into a series yet this summer, mainly because Jim has been working on a big assignment. However, the end is near for him and I'm eager to start up a new show.

Any suggestions???

Raw meat, anyone?

Did anyone watch Monday night's episode of "Wife Swap"?

One of the families, the Haigwoods, live on an all-raw diet - and I don't mean like raw vegetables. I mean raw chicken, beef, eggs, etc. I was just totally disgusted by this diet concept all night. I couldn't believe how bizarre it was.

Has anyone heard of an all-raw diet? What other weird diets have you heard about?

The Purple Dinosaur

Before I begin this entry, I want to say thanks for your blog replies, calls and e-mails over the loss of Luke. It has been a difficult week for us. Having others relate to the loss of a pet has helped very much. So, thank you.

*******************************************************

Now about the purple dinosaur. His name is Barney, and he is a major part of our family. I've lost count of how many times we've watched the eight Barney videos we own.

Laura can watch them over and over, one after another. It doesn't get old for her.

I'm left to wonder, what is so fascinating about a talking purple dinosaur? He does teach nice lessons about sharing, emotions and getting along with others. I like that he reinforces what Jim and I are trying to teach Laura.

It is just odd that it comes from a purple dinosaur.

As I type this blog, Laura is watching Barney on PBS. He is singing about being special. What a great way to start the day!

If you have chidren, what is their favorite character? What was your favorite character growing up?

Our latest addiction

Jim and I discovered a great series this summer - "Lost."

We were hooked after renting the first disk of season one. Now we are finishing up the second season in preparation for the third-season premiere on Wednesday, Oct. 4.

I think I have figured out why I like "Lost" so much: You can relate to all the characters. Let me explain with a few of my favorite characters:

1. Matthew Fox plays the handsome doctor named Jack. Who wouldn't want a hot doctor at their bedside?

2. Jorge Garcia plays the funny fat guy Hurley. Everyone has an issue with his or her weight, whether it is too low or too high. I like Hurley!

3. Terry O'Quinn plays Locke. He is my favorite character. He is quirky, smart and all-knowing. He senses when there is a problem, and he usually fixes it.

4. Josh Holloway plays the part of the redneck Sawyer. Sawyer has a nickname for every person on the show, such as "Jabba" for Hurley and "Tokyo Rose" for Sun Kwon. He is rough around the edges, but deep down he has a soft heart.

5. Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje plays Mr. Eko. He is an African priest who speaks deeply and seriously; his spirituality is his strength.

We all have our favorite T.V. shows. What are yours?
