Pre-School

Laura excitedly and confidently began 4-year old Pre-school today. She is attending Harding Academy's Early Learning Center where Mrs. Renee is her teacher. Ironically, I taught Mrs. Renee's youngest daughter pre-school as my first teaching job after graduation. Her daughter is now in 10th grade. (that really ages me!!)

When I picked Laura up, she was in no rush to leave and wanted to stay for snacks and outside play. I guess next time, I'll let her stay until 3:00 instead of 2:30. She still won't tell me much about the day except that she liked it and is ready to go back on Thursday.

As for me and Grant, we spent our day at home in a quiet house. This is the first time I've ever been at home while Laura has been at school. The last two years she was in a MDO program while I taught part-time. It was kinda strange for her not to be at home & I'm already dreading the thought of full-time Kindergarten. We are already thinking that she'll do another year of pre-school before she goes to Kindergarten since she has a late July birthday. We'll see how this year goes....

As for the red plaid dress, it is our tradition. When I was growing up, I always wore a red plaid outfit on the first day of school. I actually have a picture if I can find of me standing by the fireplace with my hair just like Laura's in a red plaid dress. When I find it, I'll post it!

Enjoy the pictures of my little learner!!

Glad she enjoyed it! I hope Madison loves it next week when she starts :) I love the little plaid dress and what a neat tradition for you to pass on! She looks like she is really growing up in the short time y'all have been gone..kinda lost that "baby" look :( I hated that stage...wasn't ready for my babies to not look like babies!

She looks like she was loving school. Anna loved it so much last year and it made the transition to K so much easier! She got a great teacher but of course they are all good up there!

Just a word to the wise about picking her up try 2:55 so you beat the school traffic out of the parking lot! If you wait til 3:00 you will get stuck in the traffic and will not be able to get out. FYI K-6 gets out at 3:05 so the traffic starts moving about 3:10.

Laura looks like such a big girl in these pics. Hard to believe that she's a preschooler! Alec will start preschool in about 3 weeks. I'm not sure if he'll handle it as well as L did!

And I LOVE the red plaid thing. I never knew that about you. How is it possible that there's something about my sis that I didn't know?!

Wow, she looks so grown! Sadie starts her first day on Tuesday and I have yet to pick out the outfit. I wish I had some kind of tradition so I would have some starting ideas! Ha.

I am glad she had fun and I hope it will continue!

I LOVE the pics! The one of her still in the parking lot (from the back that shows her backpack) is too precious. She definitely appears to be excited, confident, and ready to be in school in every single picture! I, too, am looking forward to seeing the pics of you in your red plaid. :)

I hope you and Grant enjoyed some one-on-one time.
